The town of St. Genis Laval is famous for its Arquebuse liqueur, first created by the Marist brothers around 1869. The secret recipe contains 32 herbs and spices and was such as success that in 1893 production was moved to Montet. Production remained there until 1962 when it was transferred to the order's Italian houses.
