Descended from Norwegian viking and Scottish ancestry, Jean-Baptiste Antoine Otard established his cognac trading firm in 1795. The next year, he purchased the Chateau du Cognac and began distilling cognac.

This bottle of VS, specifically formulated for "long drink", cognac and tonic water, does not conform to the bottle shaped employed since 1968. Otard is probably today the only brand to use the same shape of bottle right across its product range.
